ProjectAnalyst estimations follow a straightforward process to set up a project for estimations:

1. Import spatial data describing the Project (roads, water, elevation etc)

2. Determine the operating schedule

3. Establish the work methods and work plan (i.e. in Log Harvest)

• Describe the log sorts and allocate wood to them

Log sort allocations are setup by assigning a percentage of the merchantable and non-merchantable volume by species to each log sort

• Describe log hauling routes (if applicable)

A log hauling route is defined for each log sort by specifying travel distances (in-block road, resource roads, highways, etc) and delays (traffic lights, weigh scales, etc).

4. Setup any desired supplementary activities which might include:

• Mob / Demob
• Employee Travel
• Supervision
• First Aid
• Labour
• Support Items
• Accommodations
• Secondary Tasks

Once a project has been setup, a base estimation is run to determine which combination(s) of teams will complete the work with the least cost.  From this base run, alternative estimations can be performed to allow users to manually specify which teams will do which work.
